Avery joined Kids Cook! in July, but she’s no stranger to working with kids! She has a great outlook on life and quite a menagerie of animals and plants at home. Read on to find out more about educator Avery!

Before working at Kids Cook! what was the most interesting job you’ve had?

The most interesting job that I had was being a summer camp coordinator/director. Every single day with kids is a new adventure.

What have you gained from working at Kids Cook! ?

I have gained a deeper understanding of the importance in educating children on cooking and nutrition. The students can apply the skills and knowledge that they learned in my class to their lives.

What three words would you use to describe working at Kids Cook!?

Rewarding, Creative, and Exciting

Do you have a favorite quote or motivational phrase?

Spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people. The Breakfast Club

How would you describe yourself as a 10-year-old?

I was a little rascal. I loved running track and playing pranks on my older siblings.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?

If I could be anyone for a day, I would be my boyfriend. He is a very intelligent person and I would love to know what he is thinking all day.

What three things would you want if you were alone on an island?

A book, a blanket, and tea.

Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

The best place that I ever travelled to was Washington state. I love how much it rained there. I went to Tacoma and saw the coast, it was beautiful.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years?

I have learned patience. My patience is tested everyday, so I have lots of practice.

Is there anything else you want to share?

I have two cats named Malcom and Crow, two snails named the and flash, a fish named concrete, a frog named avocado, and many plants.
